Dare To Bare

Honey For The Heart - 5

Bumble-the-bear was unusually quiet that morning. He sat staring at his honey jar, but hadn’t so much as dipped a paw in it.

Piggy, perched nearby on a small stone, tilted his head.
“You alright, Bumble?”

“Hmm,” Bumble murmured absentmindedly.

“Want to share?” Piggy tried again, a little softer this time.

“Well… yesterday, I ended up telling Bunny something really personal. Something I hadn’t planned to. And now I feel… exposed.
Like he knows a part of me he wasn’t meant to.
Like I left my fluff out in the rain.”

Piggy blinked.
“Oh. You mean… you bared something you weren’t ready to?”

Bumble nodded solemnly.
“It’s a strange feeling, isn’t it? Sharing your innermost fears.
And then the weight of judgment!
What if the other person laughs?
Or thinks you’re silly?
Or worse… says nothing at all.”

Piggy tapped his toe, thinking deeply — like a philosopher in a jumper.
“Hmm. Vulnerability does feel a bit like walking around without your fur.
Breezy. Brave. And possibly… bare.”

Bumble sighed.
“Maybe I should go back to not saying too much.
It’s safer. Less chance of getting hurt.”

Piggy nodded slowly.
“Staying quiet is safer.
Like hiding in a cozy cave on a stormy day.
No rain. No risk.
But also… no sunshine.
No picnics.
And no one getting to know the real you.”

He looked at Bear with kind eyes.

“You know, when you told me you avoid wandering too deep into the woods because you might forget your way back home… I didn’t think you were silly.
I thought you were being very brave.
Baring your fear so honestly.”

Bumble blinked.
“Even though my voice was all wobbly?”
“Especially because it was,” Piggy said, smiling.
“That’s how I knew how much courage it must have taken.”

They sat quietly, letting the moment breathe between them — soft as a leaf floating down.

“So,” Bumble whispered, “vulnerability is like reaching out a soft paw…
It might get swatted away… or gently held?”

Piggy nodded.
“Exactly.
And sometimes… someone holds it. Just like this.”

And he placed his tiny paw on Bear’s.

Bumble looked down, then smiled — that real, warm, honey-melted-inside kind of smile.

“I suppose I’d rather be open and honest… than stuffed and silent.”

Piggy beamed.
“Now that’s my brave-heart.”

A Drizzle of Raw Honey 🍯
Don’t be afraid to wear your vulnerability on your sleeve. Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is speak from the heart — even when it takes everything you’ve got. True connection begins the moment we choose honesty over being politely sweet. Not everyone will know how to hold your truth kindly — but the ones who do… make the bond worth it.
